Mass intentions
At the moment we have a backlog of over 100 Mass intentions, some of which go back to January. So if you are one of the people waiting for a Mass to be said I can only apologise that it has taken so long. A priest is only supposed to say one Mass a day except in special pastoral circumstances, like Sundays, Holy Days and in particular needs and so it takes a bit of time to work through the intentions that need to be said.
We send Masses to Father Tom Kelly and Father Tony Box, both of whom are short of Mass intentions, and also to our Mission in India, where the stipend you offer buys about seven times the amount that it would in this country and is used to support the 50 or so students that we have for the priesthood there.
It takes 10 years for us to train a priest in India, from the moment they join our community to the time they become finally-vowed members of the Sacred Heart Fathers and Brothers and are ordained priests. You can help this wonderfully growing Mission by indicating that I am allowed to send your Mass to them to say and the Sacred Heart Fathers are very grateful to everybody who has done this.
Please keep an eye on the lists at the back of Church as we write the intentions of all the Masses we have sent away. We also do our best to accomodate special events like anniversaries on particular dates and also to say a Mass quickly in case of special needs and requests. But obviously this is very difficult to do in all cases. Please be patient. We are doing the best we can.
